Chinese New Year in Paris – Year of the Tiger

A few weeks ago, we went to Paris, France to visit a couple of friends. Among other things we went to see the the Chinese New Year Parade. Actually there are several parades to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The one we went to was one of the smaller ones. Still took them more than 2hrs to parade along the Rue du Renard. There were several Chinese Dragons (that kind carried on long poles) performing the Dragon Dance. Also I observed some kind of tradition when a Dragon entered some shops. Inside on the ceiling was some kind of red present which the dragon had to get.Question to the readers: does anybody of you what this is about?
A lot of Chinese Associations had their own costumes or even decorated cars. Most of them also had Chines Name Tags which made it difficult to find out what kind of association they were.
